The birth of a stay at home Dad

Through the holidays, when things with the business had slowed down a bit, my wife had pretty much taken the reigns of the business. Now that things have cranked back up to speed, she doesn't really want to let go.

She is an awesome mom but, like so many other parents out there, she needed her time away from our son too. She loves the business and decided that she wanted to see how it would work for her to do it full time and for me to watch him.

We've been working this way for a couple of weeks now, and we're both loving it. The only down-side for me is that when our son is napping, I need to find something else to do. We both still split the housework, so I don't always have anything along those lines to keep me busy.

So for now, I'm able to focus more on the back-end parts of the business that can be done on our own schedule like developing our website, and figuring out some other marketing opportunities.

I like this part of the business better anyway because I have more of an analytical and logical mind than a creative mind anyway. So this just seems to be a natural fit. I get to spend more real, quality time with our son, and still help my wife when the business gets really busy.

I think this will work out pretty well for all of us and lets us both use our talents to do what we do best.
